Score It!

The second match where Georgians were favorites but could not win. It did not happen for the first time and it is pity when one cannot use such big advantage. Kazakhs could not dream more than 1:1 but “Irtysh” is better team than “Banants”.

1:1 and “Metallurg” cannot arrive in Pavlodar with the status of favorite.

In spite of heat, the match was not boring. There were many moments and Irakli Modebadze missed two chances in the first half: at the 27th minute, after a good assist of Aleksandre Kvakhadze, Modebadze kicked the ball weakly and goalkeeper Anton Tsyrin could not find it difficult to catch it. Before the break, Modebadze had another chance of scoring goal but Tsyrin parried it. In spite of these unsuccessful moments, Modebadze was one of the active players on the field.

Revaz Getsadze often attacked the guests. His attacks were effective and productive but without goal.

At the 31st minute, Getsadze rushed in penalty area of “Irtysh” where he fell down. Penalty? No, Austrian referee Rene Eisner warned Getsadze for simulation. We watched this moment on video though we cannot say for sure if there was contact between Getsadze and defender.

And what did Kazakhs do? They did not attack “Metallurg”, they mostly played in defense. At the 5th minute, the guests attacked the goal of Grigol Bediashvili though the attack ended up with senseless assist of Eduard Sergienko.

The hosts felt their advantage and attacked the opponent after the break. But at the 58th minute, Sergienko kicked the ball strongly and Bediashvili parried it. After one minute, “Irtysh” demanded penalty when Sergei Ivanov fell down in the penalty area.

And goal: it was the 73rd minute when Getsadze took a corner kick and Kvakhadze scored – 1:0.

After this, Kvakhadze changed his jersey because it was soiled with blood. The defender of “Metallurg” continued playing with jersey No.8. Soon after, Modebadze shot the ball but missed it.

And a ball in the goal of “Metallurg”: Kazakhs took a free kick and Georgi Daskalov scored goal – 1:1.

1:1 is not a good result for the hosts but “Irtysh” is not such team that cannot be beat in away match.

After the match:
Talgat Baisufinov:
“I congratulate Rustavi city on European football. Thank you for good hosting. Football is No.1 sport in world. I hope spectators liked playing of both teams. I am satisfied with my team. They played draw against country of Aleksandre Chivadze, Davit Kipiani and Ramaz Shengelia. I warned my players that Georgians are very technical. Our chances are 50/50 and I can say that “Metallurg” has advantage because we have very busy calendar. Before July 21, we will hold another match at Kazakh Championship”.

Head coach of “Irtysh” praised “Metallurg”. It talks about his respect toward his opponent and it is a good feature.

Though, he often mentioned “soviet football”, “soviet aspiration”… Soviet Union does not exist anymore and I do not think it would be pleasant for Georgians to hear that they played soviet football.

Armaz Jeladze: “I want to thank my team. We played assault football but we were not lucky. We could have reached desired result but we made one mistake which was fatal. It is pity that we could not use goal chances but I do not think we lost chance of going through the next stage. We will do our best. As for “Irtysh”, it was not a weak team”.
