Temur Ketsbaia, head coach of Georgian national team, called up Sandro Guruli, midfielder of "Karpaty" Lviv, for the friendly match against Slovenia which will be held on November 17. The player confirmed this information in the conversation with the official website of Ukrainian club.
Sandro Guruli: "How did you hear about it? I have not told anyone about it. I was informed about it after the match against "Metalist" but I was waiting for the official call up. I was going to tell the boys about it after boarding plane. It is not surprise for anyone that I am happy. Being called up for national team is dream of any player. I am full of emotions".
- Did you know about interest of Ketsbaia?
- I think, he watched the match of "Karpaty" against PSJ at European Cup and matches of Ukrainian Championship. Ketsbaia was a great player. Everyone remembers his "Anorthosis" Cyprus.
- Playing for the national team deprives strength from a player. Besides it, there are championship, cup and European League. Are you ready for such crazy rhythm?
- If you want to become a great player, it cannot be done other way. You should be ready for it. I have seen how they return from national team to club - Fedetskiy, Khudobiak, Kojanov, Zeniov. Playing for the national team gives them strength. I hope, I will be so too.
- You have grown up in France. Do you know Georgian anthem?
- Of course, I know and I will sing it. If I have debut in the team, I will continue my family tradition. My father Gia Guruli was playing for Georgian national team after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
