Saka-Rtvelo will Find It Difficult to Go through Next Round

Beach volleyball Georgian pair Saka-Rtvelo overcame the qualifying draw of Shanghai Grand Prix though on the first day of the group stage, the duet lost both two matches and is in the most difficult situation.

Saka-Rtvelo (Brazilian girls Cristine Santanna and Andrezza Chagas) was No.31 seed in Group B and lost both matches without winning even one set: 0:2 (15:21, 18:21) to Brazilian duet Talita and Antonelli (No.2 seed) and 0:2 (17:21, 11:21) to Americans (Fendrick-Hanson), No.15 seed).

On May 3, Brazilian Georgians will hold the last match of the group against No.18 seed Canadians (Bansley-Maloney) and perhaps, they will not go through the next round even in case of victory.

Tomorrow, men’s pair Geor-Gia (Brazilian Renato Gomes and Jorge Terceiro) will start competition. Geor-Gia is in the main draw and is No.22 seed in Group O. On May 3, Gomes and Terceiro will play against Russian (Semenov-Barsuk, No.27 seed) and Swiss (Heuscher-Bellaguarda, No.11 seed) pairs. On May 4, they will play against favorite German duet (Erdmann-Matysik, No.6 seed).
