Giorgi Nijaradze president of Georgian Rugby Union and Levan Maisashvili head coach of A team met journalists at “Shevardeni” base and talked about English tournament of “Sakartvelo XV”.
As far as we know Georgian A team had to participate at this tournament but French teams refused to let Georgian legionaries come and take part in this tournament.  That’s why team has changed its name, which was the following “Sakartvelo 15” (the same “Momavlis Sakartvelo”). They managed to beat British Army team then team of Oxford.
Giorgi Nijaradze: “We plan to go through British rugby market and at last this relation has started. Georgian legionaries are limited in France and that’s why we have problems and that’s why we started to search alternative ways.  One of the head coaches of National Team Donald Kasky did his best and we were welcomed in England.  We had best conditions for training and preparation.  We beat British Army. This team holds matches periodically. The second match was against Oxford team, the members of the team are from U-21 New Zealand, Australia and South Africa other teams.  The match was held at the oldest rugby field. We have started negotiations with Hartlepool rugby academy and soon we will send there our sportsmen. Rector of this academy is to pay visit to Tbilisi in May and will attend U-20 World Cup and official agreement will be signed then. Actually we had successful tour in Britain”.

Levan Maisashvili:“We wanted Georgian A team to leave for Britain, but we could not manage to gather them and we left for Britain with other staff. Emerging team did its best and succeeded. We tried to play with the same tactic a National Team has. We had quite strong players in our team. I think some players from this team have chance of competing at World Cup. Most of them will be members of National Team soon”.

British clubs liked some of the players and soon they will leave for Britain.
