Papinashvili Was Close to Become Champion

 

Georgian judoka Amiran Papinashvili won silver medal at Grand Prix which is underway in the capital of Holland, Amsterdam. He earned 120 rating points. It is worth mentioning that Papinashvili was close to becoming champion but he lost the final.

Amiran defeated Wander Mateo of Dominican Republic, Valtteri Jokinen of Finland, Sofiane Milous of France and Chimed-Yondon Boldbaatar of Mongolia. Amiran was winning over Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj of Mongolia by waza-ari and yuko but he received two waza-aris at the last minute and took the second place.

Nugzar Tatalashvili (73 kg) took the fifth place at the Amsterdam tournament. He earned 40 rating points. Georgian judoka beat Odbayar Ganbaatar of Mongolia, Christopher Voelk of Germany and Murat Kodzokov of Russia. He defeated UgoLegrand of France in ¼ final. Tengiz Paposhvili won over Milos Mijalkovic of Serbia though could do nothing against Krzysztof Wilkomirski of Poland.

Lasha Shavdatuashvili (66 kg) did not wrestle in the first round. Then, he defeated Serhiy Drebot of Ukraine though lost to Pawel Zagrodnik of Poland in 1/8 final and ended up participation in the tournament.

On November 20, champions and prize winners will be found out in four weight classes. Avtandil Chrikishvili (81 kg) will wrestle against Miroijub Izevic of Serbia, Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg) – against Alexandr Kassachev of Kazakhstan, Irakli Tsirekidze (100 kg) – against Viktor Resko of Latvia, Levan Zhorzholiani (100 kg) – against Berend Roorda of Holland, Zviad Khanjaliashvili (+100 kg) – against Andrey Volkov of Russia and Lasha Gujejiani (+100 kg) – against Janusz Wojnarowicz of Poland.

Champions of the Amsterdam Grand Prix will earn 200 rating points. Silver medal winners will earn 120 points, bronze medal winners – 80, the fifth placed – 40.
