Paikidze still Leads World Championship

 

Three victories in three rounds – it is the result of Georgian chess player Nazi Paikidze (2416) who is No.1 seed at World Junior Championship and justifies status of favorite. In the third round of the Chennai tournament, Paikidze played against Turkish Kubra Ozturk (2258) and won on the 42nd move.

Besides Nazi, Peruvian Dacy Koris (2376), Indian Rout Padmin (2348), Russian Olga Giria (2371), Romanian Irina Bulmaga (2293) and Azerbaijani Narmin Kazimova (2292) have maximum results.

In the next round, Paikidze will play against Padmin with black pieces. Keti Tsatsalashvili (2318) celebrated the first victory at World Championship. She beat host Shetty Shristi (1927) with black pieces. Tsatsalashvili is in the 39th place with 1.5 points. In the fourth round, Tsatsalashvili will play against Ecuadorian Echeveria Romero (2071).

The World Junior Chess Championship which is underway in “Vijai Park” hotel includes 13 rounds and finishes on August 15. August 8 is a day-off.
