Two Georgian chess players Nazi Paikidze (2412) and Nino Batsiashvili (2413) participated in international tournament which ended up in the capital of Norway, Oslo. After nine rounds, Georgians shared the first-second places among women. At the tournament, Paikidze took the 9th place with 6.0 points and Batsiashvili took the 14th place with 5.5 points. 58 chess players competed in the tournament. Matthew Sadler (2625) of England had the best result (8 points). Sipke Ernst (2581, 6.5 points) of Holland took the second place. Jon Ludvig Hammer (2614, 6.0 points) of Norway took the third place.
Batsiashvili managed to win in her group at the blitz tournament. Though, in semifinal she lost to future champion Kietil Stoke (2407) of Norway 1:2. Then, Batsiashvili lost to David Klien (2359) of Holland in the game for the third place.
