Only Formalities are Left till the Second Presidential Term of Sichinava

Zviad Sichinava, current president of Georgian Football Federation, has officially been confirmed as a presidential candidate at the 19th electoral congress of GFF.

This decision was made at the executive committee of the federation which was held at press conference hall of Mikheil Meskhi stadium. 15 members of executive committee attended the meeting – only Davit Namgalauri, deputy of minister of Sports, and Gia Sharabidze, president of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti regional football federation did not attend the meeting. Sharabidze could not arrive in Tbilisi because of bad weather. Later, MP Giorgi Asanidze and Lasha Mindeli, president of Kvemo Kartli regional football federation, showed up in the hall.

Because of being very cold in “Mikheil Meskhi” conference hall, the executive committee held the meeting very quickly. Everyone supported candidature of Sichinava, regulation of the 19th electoral congress, secret voting model of football federation elections, schedules of Georgian Supreme and First Leagues. Besides that, changes were made in regulation of Georgian national championship. Before that, clubs had to pay 100 GEL per one player for interior transfers. This tax is abolished. There will be no limitation on players in Youth League. 30 players can be in the list of clubs at every league. If club has more than 30 players, then it will have to pay money – 500 GEL in Supreme League, 300 GEL in First League, 100 GEL in B Team. Before that, clubs had to pay only 100 GEL for it.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be held at hotel “Holiday Inn” and secret voting of presidential elections will be held there. According to the regulations of football federation, absolute majority of votes are necessary in the first round (50% +1). As Sichinava is the only candidate, nothing will prevent him from becoming president.
