Omar Tetradze: "Dinamo"? As It is Said, Never Say Never"

Former football player of “Dinamo” Tbilisi – Omar Tetradze is in Tbilisi now. 43-year-old specialist left “Volga” Nizhny Novgorod last year and has not worked since then. Is it real that Tetradze becomes head coach of “Dinamo” Tbilisi? “World Sport” contacted Tetradze:

- How long have you been in Tbilisi?

- I arrived on April 11 and was here on Easter. My family is in Tbilisi. I leave for Russia on April 21.

- New coach is expected to be appointed in “Dinamo” Tbilisi. You are also one of the candidates. What about this?

 - I have heard about it in the morning. My friend has called me and told me. I have not talked with reps of “Dinamo” yet. So, I do not know anything.

- If representatives of “Dinamo” contact you and offer good terms, what will you do?

- Good condition does not mean good salary for me. It is not my style to be a coach just to be called coach.

- I did not mean money in good condition. Ambition is good attitude…

- I will say then: never say never. Unfortunately, “Dinamo” does not make us happy like before. It is clear that there are some problems and they must be solved. There is a proverb: Moscow was not built in one day. It needs time.

- Do you know about problems of “Dinamo”?

- I only know what I hear. If I work for the club, it is another issue. You must work to know everything. President of “Dinamo” knows what is going on in the club.

- Do you know Roman Pipia? He has worked in Russia for a long time.

- I do not know him in person. Though, I know that he was president of “Sokol” Saratov. Our ways were not crossed.

- You left “Volga” last year. Did not you have serious suggestions since then?

- There were some suggestions from Russian First League but I refused. I prefer Premier League or club which is fighting for moving to Premier League and has ambitious project. On April 21, I am leaving for Russia and will hold negotiations with one of the clubs.

- Can you say more concretely?

- Not yet.

- What were you doing during this year?

- After leaving “Volga”, I rested only one month. Then, I read different football books, attended matches. This year I was in Antalya where many clubs were holding meetings. It is life of coach.

- You know that Lasha Salukvadze and Gogita Gogua have financial problems with “Volga”. What can you say about it?

- Lasha and Gogita had professional contracts. Of course, they deserved money and “Volga” must pay it. If football players are not paid, they must appeal in FIFA or UEFA.

- Were you fully paid?

- Yes, I did not have problem.
