Omar Pkhakadze was elected as the president of Georgian Velo-sport federation. Delegates voted the son of a legendary sportsman Omar Pkhakadze unanimously.
Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs hosted election. The first issue on an agenda was the speeches of the current and the candidate of the presidential election Besik Nadiradze, he told the auditorium that he wanted to withdraw his candidate from the election.
Nukri Vashakidze also was expected to withdraw his candidate and Pkhakadze would win the elections, but Vashakidze did not do so. In open election none supported him.
“Thanks a lot for such unanimous support. I acknowledge my duties well and I will do my best. Lack of investment in this sport always was a problem. I hope, there will be sponsors and the government also will support us and the progress will become evident”- stated newly elected president.
Omar Pkhakadze will have vice-president. Besik Nadiradze will be one of them. Ruslan Jaoshvili still remains on the position of general secretary of federation.
