“Wit Georgia” is in the middle of the schedule in Premier League, this season is better than the last for them and there were several matches which was played suitably as a leader: for example, against “Metalurg” they won 5:2. This is a youth team including with perspective players and among them is Nika Daushvili.
World Sport” talked to Daushvili:
- You played 1:1 against “Zestafoni” last round. First of all let’s estimate this match.
- We played better in the first half, we made even 2 goal moments in the initial 5 minutes. It is true, that they scored soon, but we equalized in the first half. I should say, that in this season we have not met such a good team as “Zestafoni” is. We played against “Dinamo” Tbilisi but then they were not in a good shape.
- Does “Wit Georgia” has a progress in comparison with the previous season? I mean the quality of the game.
- There is a progress. We are youth team and other values are more important for us than the financial side: we must grow up, show ourselves well and who knows next what happens, we might have an offer from the foreign teams. Before the season, our goal was not to enter in top 6, but to achieve the highest place in Premier League, and now we can see, that this is possible. “Wit Georgia” is like a home, we are one family and first of all this is a merit of our leadership. We have a high level of discipline. We would be more ahead, if the financial situation was better here. We have one goal: let “Wit Georgia” be back among the leaders.
- I should ask about it: as we know, there are debts towards the football players and the meeting was held in the club. What is the decision?
- The president of the club promised us, that everything will be redressed. We agreed, that football players, coaches and the leadership must stand together and understand problems. We have not taken one month’s salary and premiums of several matches.
- Personally about your game: what are those components, which you have to improve?
- Sometimes I am very self-confident. On one hand this is good, but maybe it will act badly. I am still 24-year-old, and this is a very young age for the goalkeeper. Generally, it is good that I am playing regularly. Not playing is the most painful thing for the goalkeeper.
- Have you had any offers from the other teams?
- Nothing concrete in this summer. Soso Grishikashvili is my manager, to whom I have a friendly relationship and naturally also businesslike.
- The majority consider, that the playing level of the teams in the current season is not so good as it was last season. What do you think?
- Especially “Dila” seems weak. Everybody knows, that the reason is financial problems. It is a pity that this is happening. The good things that are happening in the Championship is that we have more good fields. For example, we had perfect field in Zestafoni.
- You was not in the age teams. Why?
- I was 16-year-old, when I became a goalkeeper. I was in “Olympic” school and Levan Melikia allowed me to stand in the goal. I was central midfielder before. I liked goalkeeping, but I did not want to be a goalkeeper. Melikia said to try. One game, two, three and I trained to it…
- Did you distinguish by your height even then?
- Yes, I was a tall child.
- Are you from sports family?
- My father was volleyball player. He was playing for “Burevestnik” and is twice champion of Soviet Union in youth. My brother is a football player, he played for “Gagra” and “Lokomotive”, but he gave up soon. So, I have a sports family.
- Is Buba Daushvili your relative?
- We are distant relatives.
- Who is you most devoted fan of you? Is there a person, who always attends your matches?
- Sometimes family members are coming and sometimes friends. Nikusha Beberashvili, pupil, always attends on “Wit Georgia” matches. No matter, where the match is, and what weather is like, he is always with us and supports.
- Probably, you think about joining the national team.
- I have a great desire and I will do everything to play in the team. Important is to play defensively.
