New Achievement of Tatishvili

 

Last week, Georgian tennis player Anna Tatishvili lost the first round of Memphis tournament (220 000 USD) though she advanced in WTA ranking. Today in a renewed ranking, Tatishvili “won” another step and is in the 74th place with 822 points which is her new record.

Tatishvili went through semifinal of Memphis doubles tournament. In doubles ranking, Anna has 1023 points and moved from the 88th to the 80th place. Now, Anna is 5 places behind of her best ranking – in January Tatishvili was in the 75th place in doubles ranking.

22-year-old Georgian tennis player is in Mexico and will participate in the main draw of Acapulco tournament (220 000 USD). 27-year-old Eva Birnerova of Czech Republic will be the first rival of Anna. Birnerova is in the 62nd place with 1440 points. In 2007, she was world No.59. Eva ended up 2008 in the 699th (!) place. Tatishvili will play against Czech tennis player for the first time. In case of beating her, Anna will play against winner between Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland and Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania. Anna plans to compete in doubles draw too. Tatishvili and her partner Michaella Krajicek of Holland will play against Slovak-Ukrainian duet (Janette Husarova-Catalin Maros) in the first round.

Tatishvili played in Mexico last year and celebrated three victories in the qualifying draw. Anna beat Eleni Daniilidou of Greece 7:6 (7:5), 4:6, 6:2, Olga Savchuk of Ukraine 2:6, 6:4, 6:3 and Petra Cetkovska of Czech Republic 4:6, 6:3, 6:4. In the main draw, Anna played against Gisela Dulko of Argentina and lost 3:6, 1:6. South American won the tournament.

30 points are for going through the second round of Acapulco tournament (220 000 USD). ¼ finalist will earn 70 points, semifinalist – 130, finalist – 200 and winner – 280.

Nine Georgian tennis players are in WTA ranking. Oksana Kalashnikova is among them. Oksana was Georgian No.1 player several years ago. Then, she had injury and could not play. Now, Oksana is in the 380th place with 111 points. Last week, Georgian tennis player played in Russia and won doubles tournament of Moscow Winter Open (25 000 USD) with Maria Sirotkina.
