“Star Tournament” ended up at “Sheraton Metechi Palace” hotel with victory of Nana Dzagnidze. Nana had a bad start – she earned only half point in first three rounds. But then, Nana won 7 games and played one draw. Before the start of the last, 11th round, Dzagnidze had 7 points. Her opponents Kateryna Lahno had 7 points and Pia Cramling – 7,5. In the last round, Lahno and Cramling played draw and Cramling had 8 points. Dzagnidze needed only victory against Tatiana Kosintseva in the last round. Nana played with black pieces. She managed to win this game. Nana and Pia Cramling of Sweden had 8-8 points. Both chess players had to play two extra games for 5-5 minutes. Both games ended up draw because the chess players did not take risk. The third decisive game, so-called “Armageddon” was appointed. The whites had 5 minutes and needed victory. The blacks needed draw for victory and had 4 minutes. Dzagnidze played with black pieces. The chess players changed the pieces quickly and Cramling was out of time.
Another Georgian chess player Maia Chiburdanidze won 3 games, played 6 draws and lost 2 ones. Finally, she took the fifth place.
