In spite of losing to Japan and Fiji, Milton Haig, head coach of Georgian national rugby union team, is sure the team is improving and in the end it will bring good result.
After losing to Fiji 19:24, Inoke Male, head coach of the guest team, praised the Georgian team. Milton Haig and Davit Kacharava talked about our mistakes.
Inoke Male (head coach of the Fijian team): “The Georgian team is very strong. We arrived here to play against strong team and to prepare for World Cup 2015. We knew your team had strong scrum. The team which is good at this component wins the game. We prepared for it well”.
Milton Haig (head coach of the Georgian team): “We cannot explain why we played badly in the second half. Perhaps, the reason is that we could not keep the ball. You must not lose the ball. Otherwise, you will be punished and it happened to us. We are all responsible for these two failures. We seemed not to be fully ready for these matches. But everybody saw we could have won these games.
At first, the team was confused and we were losing with 10 points. Then, we played well. Unfortunately, we did not have experience of such high level matches. In the second half our opponent did not let us do the same. In spite of failure, we know what we do and what we will achieve. Little nuances win or lose the match. Unfortunately, these nuances worked against us”.
Davit Kacharava: “I am sorry for losing the previous two matches. Please, believe me, we wanted to win most of all. We, players, are responsible for these matches. We fulfilled only 70 per cent of coaches’ instructions. Fiji is known for its individual offence play. In the second half we lost the ball. It was a great mistake. If you give the ball to Fiji, you will never win. This is a stage which we must overcome. We will do our best to win future matches”.
