Mikheil Chochua (27 p), Akaki Dvalishvili (16p;16 rebs), Jeph Rogers (19 p; all of them TSSU) and leader of GTU Beka Chikviladze (34 p) fight for the title of the best basketball player of IX round of the second circle of Georgian 20th Basketball Championship. According to journalists’ decision Mikheil Chochua became MVP of the round.
Mikheil Chochua gave an interview to “World Sport”.
- In the first round match GTU beat “Samedicino” (90:80), are you waiting such revenge? You managed to beat rival with 17 points difference – 93:76.
- After finishing the first circle there were made very important changes in TSSU. Nugzar Kabdelaki replaced Sergo Ishkhneli on head coach’s position. Jeph Rogers, Akaki Dvalishvili and Nodar Tenisehvili joined to our team. We had to take revenge on our rival and we did it, but I was not sure that we would beat the rival with big point difference.
- Have you ever been MVP?
- It is first time, when I am named as MVP.
- Did you expect journalists to name you as MVP?
- I was not sure but I was not surprised. I want to mention distinguished playing of Chikviladze, it is not easy to scored three-point kicks 8 times from 12. If GTU won this match Chikviladze would be named as MVP.
- Brief information about you, please…
- I was born in 1987 in Rustavi. I am married. Height – 193 sm, weight – 97 kg, position – backliner. For 7 years I was playing in Rustavi Basketball Team. I have been playing in TSSU since 2010-2011.
- What was the reason of leaving “Energy Invest” ?
- The club had finance problems and that’s why I left “Energy Invest”.
- What is goal of TSSU in this championship?
- Program- minimum of the club is going through semi-final.
- What is your desirable rival in quarter-final?
- Supposedly our rivals are MIA, “Kutaisi – 2010” and Sokhumi”. No matter which one will be our rival, all of them are strong clubs.
- Why did you pay interest to basketball?
- I was 7-year-old when I watched playing of Michael Jordan. Since that time I am in love with basketball and that’s why I went in for this kind of sport.
- Do you feel of regret that you became basketball player?
- Of course I do not feel of regret.
- Besides basketball do you like any kind of sport?
- Besides basketball I like winter sports. Most of all I like skiing.
- Besides TSSU which is your favorite club?
-My favorite club is “Oklahoma” which competes at NBA.
- Who is your favorite Georgian basketball player?
- Viktor Sanikidze.
- Are you going to play abroad?
- If I am given this chance I would play abroad with great pleasure.
- Do you pay attention to the terms of the agreement?
- I am still young and the most important is to play and improve my playing. Playing time and money should be acceptable for me.
