Medal-less Championship in Halkidiki

Georgian delegation competed unsuccessfully at World Youth Chess Championship which was held in the city of Greece, Halkidiki. 17 Georgian chess players participated in this championship. None of them managed to take first three place.
Three Georgian girls were close to medals. Meri Arabidze (2288) and Mariam Danelia (2213) who were competing in U-16 Championship collected 8-8 points within 11 rounds. They shared the 4th-5th places. It is worth mentioning, that Arabidze lost against Vietnamese Nguyen (2258) in the last round. In case of victory, Meri would have become champion.
Keti Tsatsalashvili (2266) needed half point to reach first three places. Before the last round, she was in the 3rd place. Though, she was beat by Peruvian Cori (2368) and took the 7th place with 7.5 points.
