The 3rd day of January Basho was the most successful for Georgian Sumo Wrestlers. Gagamaru and Kokai celebrated victory from Georgian threesome, but Tochinoshini lost again at Super tournament which is underway at “Riogoku Kokugikan” in Tokyo.
Gagamaru the same Teimuraz Jugheli the heaviest Sumo wrestler of Supreme Makuuchi (198 kg) has progress and now he is the most successful in compare other Georgian Sumo wrestlers. West Maegashira #6 Georgian giant beat Maegashira #7 Tosaiutaka this time.
Levan Tsaguria the same Kokai celebrated first victory at Hatsu Basho. 29-year-old Sekitor beat Japanese Vakakou. Georgian Sumo wrestler men January’s basho as East Maegashira #15 and if he does not want to retreat, he has to be more attentive.
23-year-old Georgian Sumo wrestler Levan Gorgadze the same Tochinoshini, who is the youngest sportsman of Makuuchi has difficult period now. He could not manage to beat 38-year-old Japanese Kayo.
Gorgadze Maegashira # 2 will hold again difficult match in the 4th round. His opponent is Iokozuna Hakuho, who traditionally is considered as a winner’s candidate of “Emperor Cup”. He has already won three matches in Tokyo. Georgian Sumo wrestler fought against “White Phoenix” (Hakuho) five times and lost all the matches within a year. Hope he will manage to defeat him this time…
The next rival of Kokai is 27-year-old Chinese Sokokuray (East Maegashira #16). As for Gagamaru, he will fight against Kyokutenho Maegashira #6. At last tournament in November, 36-year-old Mongolian Sumo wrestlers beat 23-year-old Georgian sportsman.
Tokyo Basho which lasts till January 23 has 6 leaders- Iokozuna Hakuho, Ozeki Harumafuji, Sekiwake Kotoshogiku and the following Maegashiras-Tokusegava, Vakanosato and Tochinonada.
