Manuchar Tskhadaia: "I Tried Hard and I was Punished"

“It was the last wrestling of Manuchar Tskhadaia in 66kg. He had to lose much and that is why he did not make through final”, - Begi Darchia, head coach of Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling style, told “World Sport” after the end of repechage final (66kg).

Tskhadaia lost gold-silver chance in semifinal. He lost to Lorincz of Hungary. Manuchar defeated Staebler of Germany in the match for the third place. It was not time for interview. He was called for awarding ceremony but he answered some questions.

-         Congratulations for bronze medal.

-         Thank you. I needed this medal. I am very glad that I made Georgian fans happy.

-         You wrestled weakly in semifinal. What happened to you?

-         Perhaps, that is because I tried hard…

-         You looked weakened.

-         No, I did not, I made mistake at the beginning. My opponent was a strong sportsman and he did not lose chance to win over me.

-         When Azerbaijani and Russian wrestlers were left beyond the Olympics, many named you as the main candidate for gold medal. Did you lack of motivation?

-         No, I did not think that I would have won easily. There is no weak opponent at the Olympics.

-         Are you satisfied with the result?

-         I am happy to win the medal. I could have done more but unfortunately, it did not happen.
