Maia Lomineishvili international grand master competed quite well at Women’s 68th National Championship and became champion 5 times. Nino Khurtsidze international grand master has also won championship 5 times, but she managed it among boys in 1998.
Besides five-time Georgian championship, she is winner of 2008 Dresden Chess Olimpiada, prize-winner of Georgia and other countries.
After returning in Tbilisi she gave us the following interview:
- Congratulations on winning Georgian 2012 Women’s Chess Championship.
- Thanks a lot.
- You had bad period in 2010 and lost 100 points in rating, due to it you lost membership in National Team. Did you expect to win this championship?
- I am representative of Tbilisi State University in sport and culture field. I am also the only specialist in these fields in TSU. That’s why I do not have for chess. I did not wait for this victory, because I had training four times before this competition.
- Which matches were memomarble for you in this championship?
- I lost only one match with Sopho Nikoladze in the 6th round. It was like as “slap” for me. After this I gained 5 points from 6. The match against Miranda Mikadze before the final was memorable. After finishing competition I thanked both of them. Mikadze won over Melia current champion and Khurtsidze vice-champion and took strong opponents from my way.
- Fans waited much more from 17-year-old Paikidze, who had the highest rating and was ranked #1 at the tournament.
- She gained 5 points and took the 9-11st place among 13 players, but in spite of this Nazi is very talented and prospective chess-player. If she works hard she will succeed much.
- How would you estimate this championship?
- Besides Maia Chiburdanidze and Nana Dzagnidze, there were all strong players in Anaklia. I do not remember such strong tournament in history of Georgian Championship.
It is noteworthy that, the tournament was organized well and that’s why I thank to Soso Todua the director of “Anaklia” hotel.
- Besides golden medal and prize-money (4000 GEL), you will compete at Georgian Women’s 2012 National Championship beyond competition, you will be financed by Georgian Chess Federation for participation at Europan Individual Championship and also will participate at European team championship, which starts on November 2. what can you say about your future plans?
- I do not know exactly where I will compete this year. But I will compete at European individual and team championship in any case. I will do my best for competing at World Championship.
