Machavariani Wins Little Bronze

 

Georgian heavy athlete Gia Machavariani (105 kg) set personal record, lifted 409 kg in a total and gained little bronze medal at World Championship which is underway in the capital of France, Paris. Bronze prize winner lifted one kg heavier and won bronze medal. It must be mentioned that 26-year-old Machavariani was the only sportsman after Russian gold and silver prize winners who used all six chances of lifting. He managed to lift 180, 184 and 187 kg in snatch and clean and jerk 212, 218 and 222 kg. Georgian sportsman took the third place in the first movement, in the second one he took the sixth place.

Machavariani was very close to top three, but Ukrainian Alexey Torokhty lifted 229 kg.
As it has already been mentioned in 105 kg weight category Russian sportsmen -Kajimurat Akaev and Dmitry Klokov, they showed super results.  Another Georgian sportsman Davit Gogia also competed in this weight category, who took the fifth place in group B and in total took the 16th place. In snatch he managed to lift 167, 171 kg and in clear and jerk 200, 205 and 208 kg. In total his result was 376 kg.

Today is the last day at World championship and another two Georgian sportsmen will compete at this tournament.  Irakli Trumanidze who won little bronze medal at European championship will compete in heavy weight and Lasha Talakhadze European champion will compete among cadets and youth sportsmen.
