Today Armenian and Georgian youth teams will hold a selective match of European Championship 2011 on the republican stadium named after Vazgen Sargsyan in Yerevan. Georgian-Armenian matches were always full of emotions but this match is more important - loser of this match will lose a chance to go through the final. Otar Gabelia, coach of Georgian U-21 team, prepared the team in Tbilisi. 14 footballers attended this training. Other 4 members of the team - Jano Ananidze, Giorgi Ivanishvili, Giorgi Iluridze and Nika Dzalamidze arrived in Yerevan on August 9 and joined their teammates at "Razdan" hotel.
As Gabelia mentioned before leaving for Yerevan, coaching staff of the team is well-informed about the possibilities of the competitor. They had a video record of the match between Armenia and Estonia (Armenian won 3:2) and this record was discussed not only once.
"In any case, we have a strong competitor. As you see, there is no outsider in our group - even Ireland which is in the last place is quite strong team", - stated Gabelia. Murtaz Daushvili and Revaz Barabadze will not play because of disqualification, Levan Kenia is injured and will not be able to help the team as well as Gelsenkirchen "Schalke".
The match will start at 17:00 Tbilisi time today and Georgian Public Broadcasting will broadcast it. Winners from 10 selective groups and 4 a 2nd place (host country is allowed to play final automatically) will play in final stage (June 11-25, 2011) of play-off (matches will be held on September 9 and 13). A 2nd place winners will be found out according to the points.
