European Individual Women's Chess Championship hosted by Tbilisi has a leader. Lithuanian Viktorija Cmilyte celebrated the 4th victory in a row. This time, she beat Russian Nadezhda Kosintseva.
Three chess players are behind Cmilyte with half points – Armenian Elina Danielian, Bela Khotenashvili and Russian Anastasia Bondaruk. In the 4th round, Khotenashvili played against Danielian with white pieces. The game ended up draw on the 21st move. Bondaruk beat Sophiko Guramishvili with white pieces.
Twenty-five chess players have 3.0 points. Eight Georgians are among them: Lela Javakhishvili, Nino Khurtsidze, Nazi Paikidze, Maka Purtseladze, Nino Batiashvili, Sophiko Khukhashvili, Salome Melia and Inga Charkhalashvili.
Yet, Nana Dzagnidze (2557) cannot do well at European Championship. After beating Romanian Bulmaga, she played draw against Purtseladze, Lomineishvili and Mikadze. Dzagnidze is in the 34th place with 2.5 points. Tomorrow, she will play against Ketino Kakhiani-Gersinska who is competing in the name of Germany.
In the 5th round, leader Cmilyte will play against Danielian with black pieces. Khotenashvili will play against Bodnaruk. Nazi Paikidze will be opponent of Nadezhda Kosintseva. Batsiashvili-Cramling, Charkhalashvili-Javakhishvili, Melia-Galojan, Kovanova-Khurtsidze and Khukhashvili-Purtseladze games will be interesting too.
11 rounds will be held at European Championship 2011 and it will end up on May 18. May 14 is a day off. Champion will gain 20 000 EUR from prize money. The second-placed will gain 15 000 EUR and the third-placed – 10 000 EUR.
