Lasa Shavdatuashvili (66 kg) member of Georgian judo youth national team won bronze medal at European Youth championship, which is underway in the city of Bulgaria, Lommel. Mikheil Chocheli (73 kg) won bronze medal.
Shavdatuashvili won six matches went through the final and in decisive fight he beat Jew Tar Jereb.
Mikheil Chokheli finished fighting for gold-silver medal in semi-final, as a result of failure with Rufat Magoedov, who represented Ukraine. Before this decisive match he beat three rivals. He went through repechage final and lost this fight with Tover Zakey. Zakey won over another Georgian judoka Gigani, in other result there would be Georgian semi-final. Gigani held three matches in the main wrap, went through quarter final, where he lost with Russian Vladimir Zoloev.
Otar Archuadze (66 kg) held the only match at this tournament. He started competition from the second circle and lost with Ukrainian Anton Chetvarik. Beka Ratiani and Shalva Ninidze, who were competing in 81 weight category could not manage to go through the quarter final. They even were not given chance to fight in repechage.
Ratiani went through the 1/8 final after beating Srgey Gonchuk of Ukraine and Eldin Omerovic of Bosnia Herzegovina. As for Ninidze, won over Daniel Benjamin Keldsan, but lost with German Dominic Ressel.
Today champions and prize winners were found out in three weight categories: 57, 63 and 70. Sophio Beridze represented Georgia, but she lost the first round match with Croatian Anna Kozeka.
On September 18, on decisive day of the tournament champions and prize winners will be found out in 90, 100 and +100 weight categories among boys and in 78, +78 weight categories among girls. The following judokas will represent Georgia: Giorgi Mermanishvili, Giorgi Kavtaradze (90 kg), Elguja Bibilashvili, Giorgi Tsnobiladze (100 kg), Ushangi Kokauri, Levan Matiashvili (+100 kg), Tea Sukhitashvili (70 kg) and Elene Kebadze (+78 kg).
