Kvirkvelia is the Last Hope

There is left to find out champions only in one weight category of Greco-Roman style wrestlers in World Champion. 6 Georgian wrestlers from 7 wrestled without result. Last hope is Manuchar Kvirkvelia (74kg), leader of the team. He will wrestle today. Yesterday were found out champions in 60, 84 and 120 weight categories. Revaz Lashkhi, Vladimer Gegeshidze and Guram Pherselidze presented Georgia. Lashkhi had chace of winning medal but he took the 5th place.
In the first round Lashkhi (60 kg) beat Abdulsamet Ugurli of Turkey.. He had difficulties in the first set, but then Georgian wrestler advanced. He beat easily E. Venskait of Lithuania. In quarter final lost against Riutaro Matsumoto of Japan in the third set and lost chance of winning gold or silver medal. Soon, Matsumoto went though final and Lashkhi beat Lenur Temirov of Ukraine in repechage. He won the chance of fighting for the bronze medal, but Ji-Hyun Jung of South Korea beat him and he got the 5th place.
Gegeshidze started championship with the lost set against Denis Forov wrestling in the name of Armenia. But finally, he won this match. Then he easily defeated Norikatsu Saikawa of Japan and went through the 1/8 final, there he wrestled against Pablo Enrique Shorey Fernandes of Cuba. He lost after tensed 3 sets. But he lost with Alkhazut Ozdiev of Kazakhstan.
Pherselidze could not win over American Dremiel Byers. Before that Georgian wrestler defeated Serbian Milos Spasic and Murat Ramonov of Kirgisistan.Yesterday was voting in 74 weight category. Kvirkvelia starts participation from the 2nd circle. He will wrestle against Mail Raul Kongresa of Cuba. In case of winning in 1/8 final will face off to winner of Never Zugaj of Croatia and Ilia Safran of Israel’s couple. World Champion 2009, Selchuk Cheb of Turkey wrestles in Georgians’ wrap. He meets Kvirkvelia in semi quarter.
