Kuparadze Won Chess Festival Named after Alexandria

 

 

The 7th traditional chess festival named after a well-known chess player Nana Alexandria, which was underway in Poti has finished. 370 players from 11 countries (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Bahrain, Belgium, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, India, Moldova) participated in this tournament which was among senior and junior chess players.
Besides the competition between U-8, U-10 and U-12, there was held tournament among 150 senior chess players. Among them were Ukrainian grand master Mikhailo Oleksenko, Maia Lomineishvuli many times champion of Georgia among women and Davit Zarkua ex-champion of Georgian among men.
Chess festival is organized by the government of Poti. The prize money of the tournament is 31 000 GEL.  Finally four chess players gained 7.5-7.5 points and according to additional points final result is the following: 1. Giga Kuparadze (Georgia, 2459), 2. Davit Kalashyan (Armenia, 2408), 3. Davit Maghalashvili (Georgia, 2472), 4. Sargis Manukyan (Armenia, 2349). Olekseenko who had the best ranking (2547) 6.5 took the 13th place.

In U-8 boys Nikoloz Kacharava won all the nine matches (!) and as a result became champion, in U-10 top three was Georgian: 1. Nikoloz Petriashvili (1508, 8.0 points), 2. Mate Todashvili (7.5), 3. Anton Nadiradze (7.0). As for U-12, Georgians managed to gain only two medals: Guram Kokaia (1736) gained gold medal with 7.0 points, Nikoloz Tsomaia (1743) won bronze medal with 6.5 points.
Host players gained only three medals in three age categories among girls. In U-8, Diana Lomaia took the first place with 8.0 points, Elene Gabiskiria took the second place with 8.0 points and Elene Ioseliani took the third place with 7.0 points. In U-10 Anastasia Sidamonidze (8.0) and Ani Mikadze (6.5) took the first-second places, Mariam Dolidze took the third place with 6.5 points in U-12.
