Georgian Giga Kuparadze (2451) competed well in international chess tournament which ended up in the city of Iran, Rasht. He earned 8.5 points in 11 rounds and took the second place.
It is worth mentioning that Kuparadze had only 2.5 points after 4 rounds. He won 5 games and played 2 draws in other seven rounds. He was only behind Pouya Idani of Iran (2448) who earned 9.0 points.
Nine Georgians played in Group A of Khazar Cup. Two of them got in Top 10: Shota Azaladze (2403) took the sixth place with 7.5 points. Davit Benidze (2516) took the ninth place. Sergei Tiviakov of Holland (2677) who was considered as a favorite of the tournament took the 7th place with 7.5 points.
Two Georgian chess players played in Group B of 10th Khazar Cup International Open Chess Tournament. One of them achieved success. Sulkhan Sirbiladze (1998) earned 9.0 points in 11 rounds, like other five participants. Though, according to the additional data, he became champion. Sulkhan won 7 games and played 4 draws. Paata Machaidze took the 52nd place with 6.5 points.
