Kuparadze Beat Champion of Georgia

1/4 finalists were found out at Men's Georgian 70th Chess Championship which is underway at Tbilisi Chess Palace in Vera Park.
National masters Davit Zarkua and Giga Kuparadze showed sensational results. They beat international grand masters Mikheil Mchedlishvili and current champion of Georgia Merab Gagunashvili 1,5:0,5.
Like Zarkua and Kuparadze, after two matches, Levan Pantsulaia, Tamaz Gelashvili and Konstantine Shanava guaranteed playing at the 1/4 final. They beat Bachana Gorchiashvili, Shota Azaladze and Davit Arutinyan - 1,5:0,5.
As for other 3 members of the 1/4 final - Konstantine Shanava, Tornike Sanikidze and Giorgi Margvelashvili - these players won a right to participate in the next round after tie-break.
Match between Margvelashvili and Davit Benidze turned out the most tense. It is worth mentioning that these players finished all matches draw.
After two draws, Shanava won 25-minute matches of tie-break 1,5:0,5. He beat Malkhaz Sulashvili.
As for Sanikidze-Davit Jojua match, after 4 draws in a row, Sanikidze won 5-minute matches of tie-break 2:0.
Pairs of the 1/4 final: Zarkua - Margvelashvili, Kuparadze - Sanikidze, Shanava - Pantsulaia, Gelashvili - Paichadze.
The first round matches will be held tomorrow.
