Nino Khurtsidze (2447) was close to leaders after the 8th round of European Individual Women’s Chess Championship. She defeated Marie Sebag of France (2512) with black pieces and earned 6.0 points. Khurtsidze is in the sixth place. Cristina-Adela Foisor of Romania (2398), Valentina Gunina of Russia (2511) and Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia (2583) are leaders. They had 6.5-6.5 points.
Nino Batsiashvili (2438) and Bela Khotenashvili (2490) are a point behind the leaders. They are in the 11th and 13th places. Here are the results of other Georgians: 17. In the 9th round, Muzychuk will play against Foisor, Gunina – against Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia (2513), Khurtsidze – against Viktorija Cmilyte of Lithuania (2497) and Dzagnidze – against Guramishvili.
European Individual Women’s chess tournament will be held from March 2 until March 13. The championship will be based on Swiss system. March 15-16 is for rapid chess and March 17-18 – for blitz. Prize money of the tournament is 106 000 EUR and 10-10 000 EUR for rapid and blitz tournaments.
