After the ballot of World Cup 2014 qualifying round, “World Sport” contacted Kakha Kaladze, captain of Georgian national football team, and asked him for a comment about the ballot’s result. He is preparing for a new season of Series A. As for the national team, Kaladze expects to be called for a friendly match against Poland which will be held on August 10.

- Kakha, it is interesting how will captain of the national team estimate our chances at World Championship?

- Of course, we are in a very strong group. On the one hand, it is very good to play with Spain and France in the group – boys will have more motivation to show their possibilities. We should not think that they are strong and we cannot play well. Goal of our team will be to prepare well for each match. Besides that, we should not forget that grandees also lose.

Could anyone think that Belarus could beat France? So, we should not think about losing.

- You have been playing in the national team for 15 years and you remember time when we almost lost matches before the start. The situation has changed…

- I agree with you. Results of last matches have influence on that fighting soul which is in the team now. I am sure that neither Spain nor France will hold easy matches against Georgia.

- Now, let us talk about chances of Georgia in other matches of Euro qualifying.

- The most important for us is to win all three matches and the second place in the group is not unreachable.

- Have you already been called up for a friendly match against Poland?

- As I know, Temur Ketsbaia has not named the staff yet.

- One month is left till the end of the season in Italy. On which preparation stage is “Genoa” now?

- We held a 10-day meeting in Austria and returned today. We will rest for 2-3 days and then we will leave for Italy. We will participate in the tournament in Spain. After returning we will play another sparring and on August 28, we will hold the first match of the championship in Naples.

- Kakha, you are one of the leaders of “Genoa”. Is Malesani going to appoint you as a captain?

- To tell the truth, it is not important for me but nothing is excluded. The most important for me is to be leader.

- Did you get used to a new coach? Do you have to confirm your possibilities to him?

- I always try to do my best. When you are leader of the team you should be the best.

- What are the goals of “Genoa” for a new season?

- We have many good players and now negotiations about the transfer of Frei and Gilardino are held. In case of their transfer, I think we will be better team.
