Kakha Getsadze, president of Georgian Wrestling Federation, estimated competition of Georgian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams at World Junior Championship which took place in Thailand. Press conference was held at Vake Wrestlers’ Club yesterday.
“I congratulate young wrestlers and coaches of the teams. We won seven medals and of course, it is a good result. It is bad there is no gold medal. So, we are not satisfied. We lost three finals. Current year is distinguished with it. Of course, I mean Olympic Games too. We must work on the mentioned issue seriously with coaches and wrestlers. We must find out problem and improve it” – stated Kakha Getsadze.
Greco-Roman wrestling team won three medals at World Championship. Tornike Dzamashvili (74kg) and Shota Gogisvanidze (120kg) took the second place. Iakob Kajaia (96kg) took the third place. Freestyle wrestling team won four medals – Lasha Talakhadze (55kg) and Konstantine Khabalashvili (66kg) made through final and won silver medals. Jumber Kvelashvili (74kg) and Geno Petriashvili (120kg) won bronze medals.
