After the return of president and general secretary of Georgian Football Federation from Cyprus, people expected them to talk about the report of one of the TV channels. Somebody decided that the national team needs rehabilitation. The team should be set free from veteran players and needs a new generation.

Zviad Sichinava, president of GFF, was named as an initiator of so-called “campaign” in the mentioned report.

“Generation must change in any case but what happened in press in these days is just diversion. Which employee of the federation or head coach said that player leaves the national team? We just only signed 4-year contract with Temur Ketsbaia.

Why do you announce last names when the national team will hold the last match of the qualifying round against Greece on October 11? Besides that, you call our player who is member of the main staff and tell him – you know, you must leave the national team. How did you get these last names? We have 5-6 high class players and we should take care of them.

If I mentioned Shushanik once and TV channels are laughing at me, I did not mention it by mistake. The team plays the same football as it did in XX century and I do not want it to do the same in XXII century. It does not mean that player must be changed – manner of playing must be changed.

If I do not say it cannot you see what happens in our football – after 20-21 years old players 30 years old are coming. Cannot you see that the interval is lost? Though, no one can prove that we do not have good players at this age. Must not we seek them? But it does not mean that the national team will refuse any veteran”, - it was monologue of Zviad Sichinava at the press conference hall of Mikheil Meskhi stadium.
