Return of “Guria”, silver medal winner of Georgian Championship (1990, 1991) and winner of National Cup (1990), to Supreme League is becoming more real after 10-year pause. After yesterday’s victory “Guria” doubled chances to reach its goal. As for its opponent, “Spartaki” lost three games and worsened tournament situation.
The match started with advantage of the hosts. They attacked their opponent. The first dangerous moment at the goal of “Spartaki” occurred at the 8th minute when Davit Mosiashvili kicked the ball and Giorgi Nadiradze parried it. At the 15th minute, Tariel Kukuladze kicked the ball, then Gia Todua shot it and missed. At the 19th minute, Giga Kverenchkhiladze, captain of “Guria”, kicked the ball from penalty area – goalkeeper parried the ball.
At the 29th minute, Levan Chapodze pushed Gia Todua and referee awarded penalty. Todua took the penalty and scored.
After the scored goals the hosts slowed temp. “Spartaki” used it and gained advantage. Levan Melkadze was the best player among the guests. The captain did his best. Lasha Chapidze assisted Melkadze who assisted him back in penalty area but Chapidze missed the ball. At the 41st minute, after the same combination the score equalized. After the assist of Giorgi Chivadze, Melkadze kicked the ball toward goal and this time Temur Sharashenidze did not lose chance anymore – 1:1.
Fans who attended the match on “Evgrapi Shevardnadze” stadium expected more tense match in the second half. After break the opponents did their best. At the 55th minute, “Spartaki” was saved from goal. After a free kick, Lasha Jangidze shot the ball in the penalty area of the guests, then Davit Maisashvili shot it and… goalpost.
“Guria” advanced at the 71st minute. Tamaz Chargeishvili took a free kick and scored it.
After this goal “Spartaki” could not mobilize and “Guria” has several chances to increase score. At the 82nd minute Kverenchkhiladze missed the ball. At the 86th minute Tornike Mosiashvili kicked the ball and it touched crossbar.
Vladimer Kachidze: “We lost important match. Boys were tired in the second half. We lost a chance to get in Top 4”.
Gigla Imnadze: “We considered this match as a decisive one. Boys did their best. I did not expect them playing so energetically in the second half. I am grateful to them and to all our fans. We are reaching our goal and we must not relax”.
