Baadur Jobava (2706), leader of Georgian team, took the 23rd place at European Individual Chess Championship which was held in the city of Bulgaria, Plovdiv. Jobava is the only Georgian chess player who won a right to participate in World Cup.
Top 23 chess players won this right. In the 11th round, Jobava played draw with Denis Khismatullin of Russia (2656) with black pieces. He earned 7.5 points, like other 21 chess players.
Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2626) was 0.5 points behind Jobava and took the 48th place. He played draw with David Navara of Czech Republic (2700). Shota Azaladze lost to Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu of Romania (2643) with black pieces. He took the 67th place with 6.5 points.

As for winner of European Championship, Dmitry Jakovenko of Russia (2729) won the main prize. He defeated Laurent Fressinet of France (2693) with white pieces and earned 8.5 points. 13 chess players collected 8.0 points. Fressinet and Vladimir Malakhov of Russia (2705) got in Top 3.
Champion gained 14 000 EUR. Prize winners gained 11 000 EUR and 9 000 EUR. Jobava was awarded with 1200 EUR.
