Georgian National Rugby Team holds the first match of the year against Ukrainian National Team on February 5. Since 2004 Georgian team has not lost any sparring match. In 2004, on February 15 they lost with Portugal (14:19) and since that time they have held 23 matches and won 21 ones. One match they drew with Portugal 20:20 and lost one match. Since 2006 Georgian National team has held 14 matches and won all the matches besides one, in 2009 they drew with Portuguese National Team 20:20.

Georgian team has played against Ukrainian one 7 times and won all of them. In 1991 they held two matches against each other and Georgian team won both of these matches – 19:15 and 6:0. It is noteworthy that before Ukrainian Team, Georgian National Team had held three matches against Zimbabwe and won all of them. In 1992 Georgian Team played and won two matches against Ukrainian team in Kiev – 18:13 and 15:0. The fifth match between them was held in 1998 again in Kiev and Georgian team managed to beat opponent again 31:17. The last matches between them were held at Tbilisi Nations Cup 2005-2006, Georgian National Team won over 65:0 in home match and 31:17 in Odessa. “Lelos” scored 15 tries in last two matches. It must be mentioned that in 2009 Ukrainian team held match against Georgian A National Team in Tbilisi and lost 10:26.
In 2006 Ukrainian National Team was replaced by National Team of Czech Republic at Nations Cup. Two years ago Czech Republic was replaced by German National Team and this year Ukrainian team is again among strong teams. Georgian Team is champion of Nations Cup and it has the best calendar in February-March. According to new regulations of Cup of Nations, winner gains 4 points, in case of drew teams gain 2 points and for scoring 4 or more tries team gains premier point. . So, Georgian National Team should be mobilized against outsider Ukrainian and Spanish National Teams, they should gain maximum 10 points.
The match between Georgian and Ukrainian National Teams is held at 15:00 o’clock. Georgian team has experimental staff as for Ukrainian team, it consists off players from “Olimpi” Kharkov and “Kredo 63”. One of them is legionary from “Russkoe Rugby” and 1-1 from “Sokol” Lvov and “Aviator “Kiev.  It is noteworthy that Zurab Kikacheishvili is #9 of Ukrainian National Team.
