In Wait for Easy Match

 

 

In Istanbul at the third round of ongoing World Chess Olympiad, Georgian men chess team played against Holland. Ranking of Dutch players was not below 2600. Leoek Van Vely played at the first board, his ranking was 2691. Matches were very tense.  At the fourth board Konstantine Shanava managed to beat Daniel Stelvagen, other matches ended in a draw.

Finally, Georgian team won 2.5-1.5. After three rounds, Georgian male chess players have 8 points (they won two matches, one failure) and they are at the 26th place. Today they have easy match against Faroe islands.
As for Georgian women chess players had absolute result after two rounds and in the third round they played against German team. In this match Georgians were considered as favorites but finally the match ended in a draw 2-2.
Nana Dzagnidze (2547) played darw with Elizabeth Paets (2491), Bela Khotenashvili (2509) played draw with Tatiana Melamedi (2356), Lela Javakhishvili (2458) won Melanie Ome (2337) and Nino Khurtsidze (2444) lost with Marta Michna (2380). After three rounds, Georgian chess players have 10 points (2 victories, one draw) and they are still leaders. Today they play against Cuba and Georgians plan to take maximum points.
