Hosts Won Eight Medals at Tbilisi Cup

 

Tbilisi Cup 2012 which is included in European Junior tour ended up. This tournament was hosted in tennis academy named after Leila Meskhi, which is located in Marjanishvili street. The competition was among U-14 and U-16 boys and girls.

 

The competition finished with finals among doubles. Ana Akhalkatsi-Ana Mujiri (both o f them from Georgia) played against Medea Petriashvili (Georgia)-Aza Petrova (Ukraine) in U-14, the match was very tense and finally Petriashvili-Petrova managed to win 6:7, 7:5, 10:8.
The final in the same age category between boys also was very tense. International couples of Irakli Metreveli (Georgia) and Artem Rolich (Ukraine) beat representatives of Russia, Davit Norakidze and Sava Polukhin 7:5, 7:5 and as a result took the first place.
After that 16-year-old players started competition. There was Georgian final in this weight category among women. Elene Lasareishvili and Mariam Matiashvili beat Mariam Bolkvadze and Tamar Kutubidze and convincingly took the first place 6:0, 6:0. As for boys, Mikail Avetisyan and Arshak Kazaryan (both of them from Armenia) took the first place after beating Stanislav Aliokhin and Deins Gevel (both of them from Ukraine) 7:5, 6:2.

It is newsworthy that hosts competed very well at Tbilisi Cup, they gained eight medals (4 golds, 4 silvers).
 Tennis players who competed at Tbilisi Cup now started competition at “Rena and Dato Cup”, which is hosted at “Olimpi” courts (June 18-24).
