Hopeless Finish and the 5th Place

Georgian youth judo team won 2 medals at World Championship which was held in the city of Morocco, Agadir, on October 21-24. On the last day of the championship, last 4 members of Gia Gugava's team did not add any medals to gold medal of Avtandil Chrikishvili (90 kg) and bronze medal of Zebeda Rekhviashvili (73 kg).
Giorgi Koberidze (100 kg) took the 7th place. After beating Lebanese Tarek Fahmy, British Joshua Butler and Egyptian Mahmud Gabala by ippons, Koberidze lost chance of winning gold and silver medals in the match against Kazakh Viktor Demyanenko. In the semifinal of repechage, Georgian judoka beat Italian Luca Ardizio by waza-ari.
Onise Bugadze wrestled in the same weight class. He started participation from the second circle but lost against his first opponent Bulgarian Daniel Dichev by yuko.
Levan Matiashvili and Ushangi Kokauri wrestled in heavyweight class in the name of Georgia. But both of them lost on the first stage. Matiashvili was beat by Romanian Daniel Natea. Kokauri won over Moroccan Hosny Rhafar within 40 seconds but lost against German Sven Heinle by waza-ari.
Japanese judokas Ryunosuke Haga and Takeshi Ojitani became champions of 100 and +100 kg. Japanese boys won 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and their team became champion. Kazakhs took the 2nd place. Georgian team took the 5th place with one gold-bronze and 2 silver medals. Besides Japan and Kazakhstan, team of Gugava is behind Germany and Russia.
Today, champions and prize winners will be found out among girls in last two weight classes. Brazilian Mayra Aguiar won in 78 kg and Japanese Manami Inoue won in +78 kg.
