Georgian national judo youth team will compete at world youth championship, which will be held in the city of South Africa, Cape Town on November 3-6. Today, in Dusheti Gia Gugava head coach of the team has told “World Sport” who will wrestle at World Championship.
4 days before ending final stage of preparation members of youth team held control matches, but its results were not decisive for staffing the team. Head coach staffed the team before starting the control matches.
Gia Gugava chose 11 judokas from those 16 ones, who competed at European championship a month ago. Of course among them are European champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili (66 kg), silver prize winners Leri Chiladze (55 kg) and Levan Matiashvili (+ 100 kg) and bronze prize winner Mikheil Chokheli (73 kg). Head coach for four weight categories (55, 73, 90 and +100) from 8 weight categories chose those judokas, who wrestled at
Beka Ghviniashvili (81 kg) and Guram Tushishvili (100 kg) will have debut in youth national team. As far as you know, Ghviniashvili won all the tournaments where he participated. He became European, World and Olympic Festival. As for Tushishvili, he took the third place at European championship, won gold medal at World Championship, but in 90 kg weight category. “The team prepared for World championship very well. Guys are in optimal condition and we expect them to achieve their goals”- stated Gugava.
