Georgian Free Style Youth Wrestling Team gained 6 medals at European Championship which was held in the city of Serbia, Zrenjanin on June 21-22. On the second day of two-day tournament 3 Georgians succeeded, two of them – Vladimer Khinchegashvili (55 kg) and Davit Marsagishvili (84 kg) won gold medal.
Khinchegashvili started European Championship with beating Armenian Matevo Saroyan. Then she won over David Dobre of Romania, Ukrainian Vitaly Gursky and Turkish Mehmet Soiler. In final match he won over Russian Arsen Kuramagomedov.
Marsagishvili held only four fights and it was enough for becoming champion. It must be mentioned that he wrestled perfect in all his fights. He won over Turkish Murat Ozkon, Ukrainian David Kalashyan, Russian Albert Tsipinov and Armenian Vahe Tamrazyan easily. He even did not loose one point.
17-year-old Geno Petriashvili who was debutant took the third place. He went through repechage from semi-final, after loosing with future champion Belarusian Ihar Dziatko. Before this victory Petriashvili gained two victories. He beat Romanian Sandor Molno and Moldovan Egor Olar, in repechage fight he beat German Ton Bernhardt.
Besides these three weight categories, champions and prize winner found out in 66kg category. Davit Tlashadze represented Georgia. He started quite successfully, won over Greek Georgius Savulidis without any problem, but in the next fight he lost with future champion Russian Baimirza Khadisov after three very difficult sets. He went through revechage and was necessary to beat three rivals for gaining bronze medal but he managed to beat only one – Serbian Nemanija Tomonc.
Georgian team gained 63 points and shared the first place with Russian team. Azerbaijan took the third place with 53 points.
