Gold, Silver and Bronze at World Championship

 

Georgian Greco-Roman style cadet wrestling team gained one bronze, silver and gold medal at World championship which was underway in the city of Hungary, Szombathely.  Ramaz Zoidze (42 kg) won gold medal, Zurab Gedekhauri (100 kg) gained silver and Lasha Gobadze (76 kg) won bronze medal.  
Today, champions and prize winners found out in 46, 54, 63, 76 and 100 weight categories.  Four Georgian wrestlers represented Georgia, there was not Georgian representative in 46 weight category.

Zurab Gedekhauri was close to championship, but he could not manage to beat Russian Soslan Tuskaev. Before this match, he won over three competitors in two-two sets: Indian Subod Subodi, Azerbainaji Bajimurad Chopsiev and Kirgiz Kambar Zhorobekov. Lasha Gobadze after beating Azerbaijani Elmadin Romazanov and Belarusian Aleksey Beliaev lost chance of winning gold or silver medal in semi-final. He lost this chance with Turkish Mesut Sarisov, in repechage fight he won over Lithuanian Eividas Stankevic easily.
Giorgi Totikashvuli (54 kg) started championship with failure. He lost the first match with Ruben Marvits, then he managed to beat Croatian Andrey Vasile Daudau and in quarter final he could not manage to beat Iranina Ramin Taherisartang, who became champion later.  Nika Mamadashvili (63 kg) stayed beyond championship in quarter final, he did not wrestle in repechage because Armenian Armen Hakobyan who won over him could not manage to go through the final. Georgian wrestler beat two competitors before this fight: Aleksander Eikeskog of Norway and Croatian Philip Sacic.
Georgian team took the fifth place with 42 points. Azerbaijani team took the first place with 65 points, Russian team took the second place with 57 points, Iran – 53 points and Armenia – 52 points.
