Giorgi Vazagashvili: "If not Unfair Competition..."

Georgian cadet judo team won 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at World Championship which was held in the city of Malta, Cottonera, on June 24-26. Georgian cadet team has not gained such good result for 11 years. World Championship is ahead which will be held in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, on August 11-14. “World Sport” met head coach Giorgi Vazagashvili to talk about the preparation for World Championship.

- I am satisfied with results but we could have done more. We could have taken the team first place if not suspicious competition.

- What do you mean?

- Our boys lost against such opponents who I cannot say were cadets.

- Which judokas do you mean?

- Levan Gugava and Beka Dongvani (both 73 kg) were left behind the final. Tamaz Kirakozashvili (60 kg) and Giorgi Lazuashvili (+90 kg) lost the finals. All of them lost against Russians.

- One month and half are left till World Championship. When will you start preparation?

- We are planning two meetings but it is not known yet where we will prepare. We will make the final decision with the management of the federation soon.

- Will you wrestle at the tournament?

- One July 24-26, we will participate in children’s Olympic Games which will be held in Trabzon. We do not know if the same team for World Championship or the team candidates will compete there.
