On Monday at press-conference which was held at “Mikheil Meskhi” Giorgi Devdariani head coach of Georgian national U-19 team stated that his players went through the Elite Round 2012 with spectacular and convincingly playing.
Giorgi Devdariani: “Final results talk about everything. Our team showed spectacular and convincingly football. We deserved the first place. In all these three matches we had definite advantages and went through the next stage”.
- How do you think, is it good that coaches are not changed in age team?

- Such method is not common, coach to work with u-16 team and continue working with them till national team. But if team shows spectacular football which is desirable for country it is justified. I think, my working with national team is not harmful. No one knows their possibilities better than I do. Our success is based on huge work, which we started in 2008. It has to be mentioned that previous authority of GFF and “Iberia Business Group” played big role settling this technologies and make this experiment. Current GFF also helped us. Talk is about football methodic. First this project was worked with players who are born in 1985 than with children who are born in 1993. This method means 8-week preparation in summer and in winter. This practice brought us victory and I hope that it will bring us finance too. Time will show if this project will fulfill again in the future.
- Which was the most difficult match at this tournament?
- We had the most difficult match against Poland, because we did not have any kind of information about our rival. We knew that supposedly they would play with 4-4-1-1 tactic. We did not have any kind of information about these players and we were playing the first match against Poland and it had additional tension. Later we watched video records of their matches against Turkey and Luxembourg and it became easier to make relevant tactic against them. Final result against Turkey is not relevant to our playing, because during whole match we had advantages over them.
- Your team has victorious mentality, which is very rare in Georgia.
- These guys have victorious psychology. It was shown against Turkey. Everyone would be satisfied that played draw against Turkey in their filed, but our staff and player were not. Time is necessary to create such mentality and it is merit of mentioned project. I would like to thank Soso Chedia and Georgian football federation, because they gave us several players in the match against Switzerland on November 10. Generally, it is necessary “I” to become secondary and “we” to become primary. If we manage it, any Georgian team will succeed. In our case, we managed it and I would like to thank players, especially legionaries, for whom “I” is secondary.
- Did you do you best in Turkey, or your players have more potential?
- To my mind we can played much better. Team has possibilities of developing. On November 28 is to be held ballot of Elite-round and we will know who will be our rivals. We will plan some sparring matches. Winter preparation time is very close and a lot of thing will be depended on it.
- Due to yellow cards Giorgi Chanturia missed the last match of the group against Luxembourg. Why he was shown so many yellow cards?
- Players managed to keep their personal emotions for themselves and that’s why they deserved so many thanks from me. Chanturia was shown yellow card in playing situation, by the way some other players were shown yellow cards undeservedly.
- How will you manage to hold sparring matches? In fact team had pause for one year and half and held very few match…
- For us it was offensive that Georgian national team had high coefficient against Poland in totalizators. We had to give relevant answer for that, but it was caused because before this tournament Pole national team held 15 international sparring matches and we held only 3 ones. That’s why Poland was given such advantages. We will plan sparring matches in any case.
