Georgians are Half-Point behind Leaders

 

 

Baadur Jobava (2710) and Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2639) gained 4.5-4.5 points in the seventh round of Ak-Fujarah chess tournament and according to the additional points they share the ninth and 12th places.
In the seventh round No.1 seed Baadur Jobava beat Chinese Kun Mas (2534), as for Mchedlishvili played draw with Croatian Ivan Saric (2622). Now, only top seven is ahead Georgian chess player. Sergey Fedorchuk (Ukraine, 2652), Etien Bakro (France, 2702), Suria Gangul(India, 2619), Aleksander Mouseenko (Ukraine, 2702), Andrei Sumets (Ukraine,2622), Liem Le Kuanq (Vietnam, 2705) and Chanda Sandipan (India, 2596) have 5.5 points.

In the eighth round Mchedlishvili plays against Gangul with white points, Jobava plays against Azerbaijani Eltaj Safarli (2626) with black pieces. The matches between Sandipani-Le Kuang and Bakro-Moiseenko rise lot of interest too.
The tournament is based on Swiss system and 9 rounds will be held. Prize money is 50 000 USD. 15 best chess players will gain prize money – first-fifth-placed will gain 15 000, 10 000, 6 000, 4 000 and 3 000 USD.
