Georgian Veterans are Fighting for World Championship

The third round of World Chess Championship among veterans, held in the city of Italy, Arco, was successful for Georgian women - Tamar Khmiadashvili (2162) and Nona Gaprindashvili (2363) gained victories.
Khmiadashvili beat Estonian Tatiana Fomina (2256) with black pieces and is leading the tournament. Austrian Elena Mira (2133) has 3.0 points too. According to the additional data, she is behind the leader. In the 4th round, Khmiadashvili will play against Mira with white pieces.
Current veteran world champion Nona Gaprindashvili moved to the 3rd place. She beat Russian Elena Fatalibekova (2270) with white pieces and collected 2.5 points. Estonian Fomina will be the opponent of Gaprindashvili in the next round.
Women will hold 9 rounds at World Championship. The winner will be awarded with 600 EUR , other price money is - II-500, III-400, IV-200 EUR. October 31 is a day off and chess players will go for an excursion to Venecia. Closing concert will be held on November 6.
