Today, Georgian U-16 basketball team left for the city of Turkey, Gaziantep, where the club will participate in international tournament, organized by “Turk Telekom”.
Top teams of Europe, Asia and Central America will gather in Gaziantep. France, Slovenia, China, Iran and Bulgaria are in the group with Georgia. Turkey, Russia, Puerto-Rico, Germany, Ukraine and Romania are in the second group.
2-2 best teams of the groups will go through semifinal. The 3rd-4th placed teams will take the 5th-6th places. The 5th-6th placed teams will fight for the 9th-12th places. All teams will hold equal number of the matches: 5 matches in group and 2 matches after.
On February 5, Georgian basketball players will open Turkish tournament with the match against France. On February 6, Georgians will play against China, on February 7 – against Iran, on February 8 – against Slovenia and on February 9 – against Bulgaria.
“Turk Telekom” tournament is traditional and prestigious.
Before leaving for Turkey, U-16 team held a 10-day meeting at Dusheti sports gym. Last Tuesday, they beat “Orbi” at U-18 Championship.
