Georgian U-16 Team is in the 3rd Place at Chess Olympiad

 

Georgian national u-16 team successfully competes at U-16 chess Olympiad, which is underway in the city of Turkey, Kocaeli.  Irakli Beridze (2294), Shalva Nadirashvili (2035), Guga Burduli (1898) and Nino Khomeriki (1903) represent Georgia at this tournament.  26 teams from 20 countries compete at this tournament, Georgian chess players started competition as No.11 seed, but after five rounds with four victories they are on the third place.  
In the first round Georgian team won over UAE (No.24 seed) – 4:0, Swiss team (No,8 seed) 2.5:1.5, Turkey “Reds” (No.9 seed) 3.5:0:5. In the fourth round Georgians lost with Armenian team (No.4 seed) – 0:4 and then defeated Turkish “Whites” (No.16 seed) – 3:5:0.5
Georgian team was well as Armenian and Russian teams have 4 victories and 1 failure. Armenia has 16 points and keeps the first place, Russia is in the second place with 14.5 points and Georgia in the third place with 13.5 points.
Chess Olympiad contains 10 rounds and finished on October 31, there is central match in the sixth round between Georgia and Russia and between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
