On the third day of Tbilisi “Golden Grand Prix”, number of Georgian wrestlers was more than foreigners but Georgians did not show better result than them. Only 23 foreigners were among 64 participants and 9 of them stood on the pedestal. 7 Georgians from 41 won medals but none of them managed to become champion.
Yesterday, champions and prize winners were found out in last four weight classes: 74 and 84 kg (freestyle), 60 and 84 kg (Greco-Roman). Georgian-Turkish finals were held in freestyle wrestling and they ended up in the favor of the guests.
After beating Revaz Ivanishvili, Marad Zoidze and Giorgi Marsagishvili, Gocha Lomtatidze (74 kg) guaranteed wrestling in final where he lost against Demirchin Batuhan. Before this match, Batuhan won over Gela Sagirashvili in the semifinal. Experienced member of Georgian team wrestled in repechage final but could not win bronze medal. Canadian Matt Gentry and Marsagishvili got in top 3.
Revaz Nadareishvili lost chance of becoming champion in 84 kg. He lost against Ildirim Ahmet. Before that, Nadareishvili beat Robert Kobliashvili, Davit Karchava and Mate Sopadze. Sopadze won bronze medal, like Davit Chakvetadze.
Georgian-Turkish final was held in 84 kg of Greco-Roman wrestling – Bolukbas Ibrahim beat Achiko Kitiashvili. Only 13 participants were in this weight class. Two victories were enough for Kitiashvili for going through the final. Ibrahim held four matches. He beat Lasha Popkhadze and Beka Chelidze. Marsagishvili and Chelidze wrestled in repechage final but they could do nothing against Boke and Russian Koloy Kortoev.
Irakli Chochua (60 kg) needed one victory for becoming champion. He lost against Uzbek Dilshod Aripov. Kemal Kharabadze and Armenian Alexan Mikhaelyan took the third places.
Champions won 1500-1500 USD along with gold medals. 800 USD was for silver medal winners and 500 USD – for bronze medal winners. Turkish Demirchin Batuhan won the special prize named after Vakhtang Balavadze and Ildirim Ahmet won the Givi Kartozia Cup.
Kakha Getsadze, president of Georgian Wrestling Federation, awarded foreign commissar Vehvilainen Pert with Georgian sword.
