Georgian Team for European Championship

Peter Seisenbacher, Austrian head coach of Georgian judo team, named those judokas who will leave for European Championship. On April 21-24, 14 Georgian sportsmen will participate in European Championship which will take place in Istanbul.

Amiran Tabinashvili and Betkil Shukvani will wrestle in 60 kg, Shalva Kardava and Giorgi Shoshiashvili – in 66 kg, Tengiz Paposhvili and Ambako Avaliani – in 73 kg, Levan Tsiklauri and Davit Karbelashvili – in 81 kg, Varlam Liparteliani and Lasha Guruli – in 90 kg, Irakli Tsirekidze and Levan Zhorzholiani – in 100 kg, Zviad Khanjaliashvili and Nodar Metreveli – in +100 kg.

Besides these judokas, Nugzar Tatalashvili, Avtandil Chrikishvili and Aleksandre Mskhaladze will be in the team and they will compete in the team championship.

“We were not going to take leaders of weight classes to European Championship but then we decided to give them chances. Besides that, there is not a long period between European and World Championships. I hope we will show good result and fate will be on our side” – stated Peter Seisenbacher.

Georgian team will end up the last meeting in Dusheti in 4 days. On April 20, the team will leave for Turkey. On the first three days, winners will be found out in individual championship and on the last day – in the team championship.
