Georgian "Grand Prix" of India

 

Georgian freestyle wrestling team gained five medals at the international tournament which was held in India on May 24-26. Delhi “Grand Prix” was held by the initiative of new president of Indian Wrestling Federation and by the support of FILA. Indian side paid all expenses of Georgian delegation. The main staff of Georgian team is preparing for Olympic Games and at this stage head coach Zaza Turmanidze did not plan to participate in tournaments. His assistant Davit Otiashvili took champions and prize winners of last year’s Georgian Championship. Georgians won 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

According to Malkhaz Jorbenadze, general secretary of Georgian Wrestling Federation, Besik Guchashvili (55kg), Davit Kerashvili (96kg) and Giorgi Sakandelidze (120kg) became champions of Indian “Grand Prix”. Giorgi Lobzhanidze (66kg) needed one victory for the analogue result and won silver medal. Giorgi Baliashvili (60kg) won bronze medal.

Georgian team showed the best result. Iran and India took the second-third places.
