Georgian Defender in "Sturm" - Popkhadze Signs Agreement

“Sturm” Graz signed an agreement with 24-year-old Georgian left-wing defender Giorgi Popkhadze. Based on reliable source of “World Sport” the agreement is 3-year, but 1+2 system. So,both sides will review prospects of negotiation for the next year.

Popkhadze held 3 test matches in “Sturm” and Franco Foda head coach of the club liked him. “Kleinezeitung” and an official web-site of “Sturm” report that Georgian player is strong in defensive line as well as in attack.

“Sturm” is champion of Austria. Davit Mujiri, Ilia Kandelaki and Giorgi Shashiashvili were playing for this club in different years and it must be said that all of them were distinguished players.
As for Giorgi’s career : in 2003-2006 he was playing for “Tbilisi” and in this period he spent 6 months for “Olimpiakos” of Greece (double). In 2006 he joined “Wiborg” of Denmark and twice was named as the best player of season. He played the first half of this year for “Zestaponi” and became champion of Georgia. Popkhadze played 12 matches for Georgian National U-21 Team and 7 matches for Georgian National Team, last time when Hector Raul Cuper was head coach of the team.
 According to his past, it can be said that “Sturm” is a new stage of his career.
